The "Unfinished :" collection is an expression of the divine tension that is experienced in the essence of the gospel. We exist in an "already, but not yet" reality as Christians, and these pieces express the in between nature of living as followers of Christ. Each artwork is intentionally incomplete in some aspect to reflect that which is still incomplete in God's eternal plan for the restoration of all things. Christ has already won the victory over sin and death. He has already freed us from the penalty, power, and practice of sin in our lives through His crucifixion, death, and resurrection, yet we still await His second coming in which He will free us from the presence and potential of sin in our lives. In this reality, we also experience an unfinished process of sanctification in our own lives. If we have been both chosen and choose to walk with Christ, we have already been born again to a living hope (1 Peter 1:3-23, John 1:12-13, John 3:5, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Titus 3:5, 1 John 2:29), yet we are still living in conflict with our flesh (Galatians 5:17, Romans 7:19-25, Romans 8:5). Our human experience is a divine tension between what has already been accomplished in the salvation of the world, and what will be accomplished one day soon.
